Kyokuyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President : Makoto Inoue) has announced that its consolidated subsidiary Ocean's Kitchen Corporation (Headquarters: Kent, Washington, USA, President: Yutaka Kato) has completed the construction of imitation crab meat production factory in the state on December 9th (Local time), with the inauguration ceremony was held on the same day.
Imitation crab meat is popular in the U.S., especially in urban areas, as an ingredient in salads and California rolls. With the rise in health consciousness, it is being noticed as a high-protein, low-calorie food ingredient. Further expansion of consumption is expected from now on due to penetration into local areas. We have established a factory in Washington, which is close to Alaska, a major production area for Alaska pollock surimi, the main ingredient of imitation crab meat. Our domestic subsidiary, Kyokuyo Foods Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ehime Prefecture, Japan), has a proven track record of producing imitation crab meat for the past 40 years. Leveraging the expertise from this production, we will produce U.S. specification products tailored to the uses and preferences of U.S. consumers.
As we promote the expansion and strengthening of our overseas business, we are working to enhance our production and sales structures in overseas and will continue to develop our bases.
